Most Chobe day trips split the day between a morning game drive and an afternoon river cruise. This one doesn’t. The Chobe Full Day Game Drive keeps you in the vehicle and inside the park for the entire day – exploring Chobe’s interior circuits, finding predators, following elephant herds, and penetrating areas of the park that short game drives never reach. A packed lunch is served in the bush, inside the park, at a designated picnic area.
The standard Chobe day trip combines a 3-hour game drive with a 3-hour river cruise – an excellent format. But some travellers have specific reasons to prefer a land-only full day: • Photographers who want consistent morning and afternoon light on land animals • Big cat focused visitors who want to maximise time in lion and leopard habitat • Wildlife researchers and naturalists who prefer prolonged observation • Guests who have already done the river cruise and want a different experience • Visitors who are not comfortable on boats due to motion sickness or mobility • Groups with children who prefer to stay in the vehicle all day

Serondela Area (North): Dense mopane woodland habitat. Prime leopard territory. Large buffalo herds move through here in the dry season. Sable antelope commonly seen. Savuti Channel Area (Southwest): The Savuti is famous for lion and has one of the highest concentrations of predators in all of Chobe. Lions here are known for hunting buffalo and elephant calves. Linyanti Marshes (West): Seasonal wetlands that attract vast numbers of game in the dry season. Wild dog packs are occasionally encountered. Chobe Riverfront (North-East): The classic circuit. Elephant concentrations are highest here.

The standard Chobe Full Day Trip ($180) includes a 3-hour morning game drive + buffet lunch at Cresta Mowana + 3-hour river cruise. This tour ($180) replaces the river cruise and lodge lunch with a full 7 hours of game driving and a packed bush lunch inside the park.
It can be – but the open vehicle, the constantly changing scenery, and the wildlife encounters make the time pass quickly for most guests. The bush lunch break at midday provides a natural rest.
A Chobe full day game drive is a safari that keeps you in an open 4×4 vehicle inside Chobe National Park for approximately 7 hours, covering multiple game drive circuits in both the morning and afternoon. Unlike a standard Chobe day trip (which combines a game drive with a river cruise), the full day game drive is entirely land-based, giving you maximum time to search for predators and explore the park’s interior areas.
