Frequently Asked Questions: Packing for Safari

What colors should I wear on safari?

Neutral colors such as khaki, beige, olive, and brown are best. Avoid bright colors, white (which gets dirty quickly), and dark blue or black, as these can attract tsetse flies in certain areas.

Are there luggage restrictions for small aircraft?

Yes. If your itinerary includes light aircraft transfers (common in Botswana and Zambia), there is usually a strict limit of 15kg to 20kg per person in soft-sided bags only. Hard suitcases are often not permitted due to limited pod space.

What essentials should I not forget?

A good pair of binoculars is essential for wildlife viewing. We also recommend a wide-brimmed hat, high-SPF sunscreen, insect repellent, and a warm jacket for early morning game drives, even in summer.
